What To Expect

Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum
See the Intrepid Air Craft Carrier, the Space Shuttle Pavilion, the Growler Submarine, plus watch an 8-minute film entitled 'the Story of Intrepid' and a 15-minute film called 'Kamikaze: Day of Darkness, Day of Light.'

Launched in 1943, the former aircraft carrier USS Intrepid fought in World War II, surviving five kamikaze attacks and one torpedo strike. The ship later served in the Cold War and the Vietnam War. Intrepid also served as a NASA recovery vessel in the 1960s. It was decommissioned in 1974, and today is berthed on the Hudson River as the centerpiece of the museum.

We used our site seeing passes to come here. Even on the wettest days the staff was friendly and helpful plus we had a good time. Lots to see and do even going on a submarine .
Me and my boyfriend...

Me and my boyfriend really enjoyed our selves. His favorite part was seeing the planes begin that he loves planes. Mines was exploring the submarine. Even though we went on a rainy day it was still fun.
A must for any aviation, naval, military, or recent history buff

Whether you fancy yourself a brown shoe, a black shoe, are interested in military history, or just like looking at cool hardware, there's something here for you. Eyeball an Olympus 593 engine up close, sit on the Concorde flight deck jumpseat, take in the Enterprise flight-test Shuttle, or be amazed at the miles of wiring in the bridge and command areas - and then there's the flight deck with over 24 aircraft, including an A12.

If you're visiting in the winter, like we did, bundle up, because the wind is chilly coming off the Hudson!
Great museum to visit while in NY

Education experience touring the Intrepid carrier, growler submarine and Enterprise shuttle. Highly recommend for adults and families. Lots of hands on things for kids to do in the museum.
Great day out

Great day out, loads of exhibits to see especially the carrier itself, the shuttle and Concorde. The guide on Concorde was brilliant. Only very slight disappointment was the catering.
