Wonderful Harlem Gospel Tour!
Janan_G, 15-12-2022
Warm bus, excellent and entertaining guide fluent in two languages, calm safe bus driver. Loved hearing the music history, visiting Alexander Hamilton home, and the highlight was the amazing singing of the Harlem Gospel choir. Fabulous day!
Great experience

The most memorable part for me was listening to the gospel ensemble. I enjoyed the choir so much and I was happy to meet one of the choir members that was from my home state.

The pick-up point for the tour is 690 8th Ave - there was a tour rep at the door and our group of around 40 waited on the sidewalk for the luxury coach which arrived promptly at 9am.

We drove to the Apollo theatre, left the coach for 10 mins or so and took a few pics. We then drove to the 145th St area to check out the Hamilton building and our guide provided background to it's history. A short stroll through sunny Harlem took us back to the coach and we then went to the church to listen to the Gospel choir who were amazing. They sang for around an hour, lots of hand clapping by the choir and audience. The choir members were kind enough to allow our group to pose with them for a few pics and answer any question after they finished singing.

Our guide was knowledgeable and spoke in English and French and the driver expertly and safely navigated the coach through the snarled up Manhattan traffic.

The traffic congestion into and out of Midtown Manhattan meant the tour lasted nearly 4 hours.

A great experience.

Note: there were lavatories at the church for all to use. We also had to wear face coverings when inside the church.

I really enjoyed the visit to Harlem - the tour was very well organised, our guide and driver excellent and the choir amazing.

The meeting point is 690 8th Ave; there was a tour representative outside the door asking the visitors wait on the sidewalk for the coach to arrive - which it did at 9am. We visited the Apollo theatre, took a stroll around Harlem in the vicinity of 145th St and were then back on the coach to the church for the Gospel choir who sang for around an hour. Great singing, lots of hand clapping by the audience and a great experience.
It was great. Out tour...

It was great. Out tour guide was an exceptional person, highly educated and incredibly informative, but it would have been good to end the tour in west Manhattan at a subway station so people could get the subway to wherever they want as the long,
bus ride back was unnecessary, slow and gruelling.
