Statue of Liberty was nice; tour guide was super friendly and great with guiding us through the initial process. A little boring though.

A 4th of July with Meaning

We truly enjoyed the day. Our tour guide “John” was a wealth of information and esoteric facts that it would have been hard to find out on our own. He is also a native New Yorker so he added a perspective that really personalized the tour and brought it to life. The tour itself was great. Seeing the combined monuments on the forth of July was a real treat. Be advised if you want to enter the Statue of Liberty (pedestal or actual monument) you will have to make a separate reservation. It was included in the package but a separate reservation, specific time slot is needed to enter the statute itself. Even without entering the Statue Liberty Island museum and the grounds are more than worth it. Really inform yourself about the history and the steps taken to build and erect the Statue. It is really rather fascinating. Great story. Ellis Island is a more solemn affair but just as breathe taking. The true history of the island and what occurred there is inspiring and heartbreaking, a story of immigration that continues to this day. If you do not like to read, like my paramour, a great well informed tour guide really brings the history of these monumental sights to life. I only have one negative: you do not skip the line. There are lines for everything. You line up to go through security and then to board the boat and to get a nibble etc etc etc. However it was all still worth it.
